📱 8.5-Inch OLED: The Biggest Change

The headline upgrade is the display. The new iPad mini moves from an 8.3-inch LCD to an 8.5-inch OLED panel, with bezels that are 24% thinner than before.

OLED brings deeper blacks, higher contrast and up to 1,200 nits of peak brightness, which makes a real difference when reading outdoors or watching HDR video.

For the first time, the iPad mini is also available with nano-texture glass on the 256GB and 512GB models. It reduces glare, which is useful if you often use your iPad near windows or outdoors.

⚡ A20 Pro Performance and Apple Intelligence

The new iPad mini uses the A20 Pro, the same family of chip found in Apple’s latest flagship iPhones.

According to Apple, compared with the iPad mini (A17 Pro), it delivers:

• Up to 1.6x faster CPU performance
• Up to 2.7x faster graphics
• Double the memory bandwidth
• Much faster on-device AI performance

That makes it more capable for gaming, drawing apps, note-taking with Apple Pencil and Apple Intelligence features in iPadOS 27.

💧 Thinner, Lighter and Water Resistant

Apple calls this the lightest iPad yet. At about 5.4mm thin and around 255g, it is easier than ever to hold in one hand or slip into a small bag.

It is also the first iPad mini with an IP67 rating for splash, water and dust resistance. That gives extra peace of mind for reading by the pool, using it in the kitchen or travelling.

Note:

Apple states that water and dust resistance may decrease over time with normal wear. IP67 is protection against accidents, not a reason to use it underwater.

✏️ Apple Pencil Pro and Landscape Camera

The new iPad mini supports Apple Pencil Pro and Apple Pencil (USB-C), making it a popular choice for students, note-takers and artists who want a small, portable sketchbook.

The 12MP Center Stage front camera now sits on the landscape edge, so you look more natural on FaceTime and Zoom calls when the iPad is held sideways.

📶 Wi-Fi 7, 5G and eSIM

The new iPad mini uses Apple’s N1 wireless chip for Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6.

Wi-Fi + Cellular models use Apple’s C2 modem, which Apple says delivers up to 50% faster mobile data than the previous iPad mini. They support 5G and eSIM.

For Singapore buyers:

If you plan to buy the Wi-Fi + Cellular model, check that your mobile plan supports eSIM on iPad before you buy.
